Where is this thing going?

The parade is starting at 11 a.m. at Constitution Avenue and 17th St. NW, heading east all the way to 7th St. and the National Mall, where there will be a rally. Here’s a map:

How should we get around?

If you’re into bikeshare or scooters, tomorrow is looking like a very good day to use them. DDOT will extend bike corral hours to 3 p.m., which will help create extra docking space for Capital Bikeshare.

Otherwise, Metro is going to be your best bet. Metro is providing rush hour service all day, meaning trains are departing end-of-the-line stations every eight minutes. Transfer stations like Metro Center and L’Enfant Plaza should be getting service every two to four minutes.

Still, give yourself plenty of time because there are likely to be no shortage of annoyances and delays. The Metro transit police could designate certain stations “entry only” or “exit only,” if crowds get too big. Escalators could also be turned off, and trains might temporarily bypass some stations. The busiest stations are expected to be: Archives, Arlington Cemetery, Foggy Bottom, Federal Triangle, Metro Center, Federal Center SW, L’Enfant Paza, Smithsonian, Union Station and Gallery Place. We suggest you have a loaded SmarTrip card on hand, if you don’t want to wait in lines trying to fill yours up in the stations.

If you’re determined to take a car, use a ridehailing app. Parking will be extremely restricted, and many streets will be closed. You can see exact parking restrictions and street closures here.

How many people are expected?

Apparently, all of them. Huge crowds thronged around Gallery Place the night of the Stanley Cup win, and the parade crowds are projected to be on par. The permit application, submitted by the team’s owner, Monumental Sports and Entertainment, listed an expected crowd size of “100,000++.” (Ted Leonsis told ESPN: “”I think it’s going to be much bigger than everyone is expecting.”)

What should you bring?

Water. It’s going to be warm, and warmer among the throngs.

What should you know?

Weather and safety alerts might be worth it. Text ALLCAPS to 888-777 to receive updates from the city.

Given the estimated size of the crowd, though, we’d expect to see limited cell service.

What’s the weather going to be like?

Pretty nice, actually. Capital Weather Gang is not predicting rain tomorrow — it’ll be cloudy with a high of 77.

What’s the marching band sitch?

Some folks at Eastern High School in NE engaged in a small Twitter campaign to get the marching band invited to perform in the parade. On Sunday night, Mayor Muriel Bowser’s Twitter account appeared to announce the band had was slated to perform, but the tweet was quickly deleted. Nonetheless, it appears the band will be there—Steven Smith, the assistant director of the Eastern High School marching band, tells DCist the city reached out on Sunday to confirm their participation. They’re hard at work practicing today, he says. Catch them on the route tomorrow.
