And on the 22nd day, Rosie O’Donnell led a cast of Broadway musical performers in song.
The actress and long-time Trump nemesis showed up in front of the White House Monday night with a bus full of more than 55 Broadway musical performers, the AP reports. The group sang musical numbers from Les Miserables and The Sound of Music, the outlet reports, as well as “America The Beautiful.”
But what were they all doing there?
Rosie’s appearance was part of an ongoing Trump protest that organizers have dubbed the Kremlin Annex, which has been chugging along, rain or shine, each of the last 22 nights.

On July 16, shortly after Donald Trump made headlines in Helsinki for seemingly siding with Russian President Vladimir Putin over his own intelligence agencies on the question of 2016 election interference, a single tweet jumpstarted what would become the Kremlin Annex.
Philippe Reines, a former Hillary Clinton spokesperson, tweeted out a call: “If someone flew home from Helsinki they’d get back to DC around 9pm. Probably jet lagged. You know what I’d hate if I just got back & needed to sleep? A bunch of people outside my home with bullhorns & air horns.”
And the protest, at that time trending as #OccupyLafayettePark, was born. Adam Parkhomenko, a former political advisor to Hillary Clinton, also got involved in organizing, drumming up support from celebrities and political figures alike.
On the second day of the protest, Stormy Daniels lawyer Michael Avenatti and actress Alyssa Milano showed up, drawing a sizeable crowd. Congressman Joaquin Castro of Texas has made an appearance, and Parkhomenko also helped secure an 18-member mariachi band to perform outside the White House on one of the nights. Another notable guest: A Russian translator, to help “Trump understand our message.”
The protests are generally not very large, some nights drawing less than 100 people according to the Washington Post, but more notable entertainers and public figures like Avenatti and O’Donnell have drawn larger crowds, by the looks of Twitter.
Moreover, the protests appear to be enduring. People reports that organizers have raise more than $130,000 to fund the guests and other necessities for the protests.
Tonight, the rally will celebrate Robert Mueller’s 74th birthday, even as the president is spending the week at his golf club in Bedminster, NJ.
Happy birthday, Robert Mueller!
Join us at the #KremlinAnnex (White House) tonight August 7 at 7pm for bagpipes, cake, and a game of “Pin the indictment on the traitor” to honor the Special Counsel on his 74th birthday.
