H2O Gets Reprieve, Promises Changes
After facing the inevitable closing that many other violence-plagued clubs have been dealt, Southwest's H2O may be feeling relieved. According to the Post, the D.C. Alcoholic Beverage Control Board has given the club two weeks to make improvements in security in the wake of a weekend fatal shooting in late May. As part of a plan to keep its liquor license, over the next two weeks H2O will add several layers of security, do away...
Questions Remain in H2O Shutdown
As Southwest's H2O night club enters its second week of a city-imposed shutdown after a weekend shooting left one man dead outside the club in late May, questions remain as to what happened and why the club remains shuttered. In a hearing before the D.C. Alcoholic Beverage Control Board last Thursday, city officials forcefully argued that the club remained a threat and revealed that Rashod Holmes, the gunman accused of killing Nelson Able outside the...
Morning Roundup: June First Edition
Welcome to June, Washington. Also welcome to the end, at last, of your short post-holiday work week. We do hope it wasn't too painful. Even if it was, the good news is that it's going to be relatively pleasant, if a touch on the hot and humid side, most of the weekend. So spend some time sitting on your front stoop sipping iced tea. Just remember to slather on the sunblock, and of course, invite...

D.C. law prohibits such proximity, but the bill will allow exceptions for businesses in commercial areas. It's been a...
Club U's Alcohol License Revoked
Half a dozen stabbings, shootings, and assaults later, the District's Alcoholic Beverage Control Board has definitively revoked Club U's alcohol license. Club U, the troubled Go-Go hotspot located inside the city-owned Franklin D. Reeves Municipal Center at the intersection of 14th and U streets NW, seen at right, was the location of a murder earlier this year, and had recently come under scrutiny by the D.C. Office of the Attorney General for recurring episodes of violence.
Club U May Be Closed For Good
The future prospects of Club U, the U Street Go-Go club which has been closed since authorities pulled their liquor license in February after a murder occurred there, appears dim. The D.C. Alcoholic Beverage Control Board voted yesterday to suspend the club's liquor license until hearings about whether they should permanently revoke the license in April.
Presidents Day Weekend Update
We hope you're enjoying your Presidents Day weekend, especially if you have Monday off from work. Although this photo taken outside the Adams Morgan McDonalds was posted on photogene's photoblog on Valentine's Day, we thought it works for this weekend as well since we witnessed a fight spill from the sidewalk to inside the McDonald's at 18th Street and Columbia Road and then back outside again. The Metropolitan Police officers breaking up the scuffle sure seemed pissed off. "Those were the same guys as before!"
