Blonde Charity Mafia Trailer on MTV UK

Blonde Charity Mafia Trailer on MTV UK

Looks like the beleaguered Blonde Charity Mafia has found at least some form of new life: an unembeddable trailer for the show popped up on the web site of MTV's UK channel today, presumably as a prelude to the show's premiere (the site mentions Jan. 11 as the first air date). No word on if any plans are in the works to show the reality program in the United States. The CW dropped its plans to air Blonde Charity Mafia last month. more ›

Blonde Charity Mafia Appears to Get the Ax

Blonde Charity Mafia Appears to Get the Ax

In a year when big-name reality television franchises from The Real World to The Real Housewives turned their lenses toward Washington, D.C., the show that got the ball rolling now looks like it may never see the light of day. Blonde Charity Mafia, previously slated to premiere this winter after having been pushed back from last summer's programming schedule, has been unceremoniously removed from The CW's web site, and its stars told that they are "free to search for other TV project options," Lisa de Moraes reports today in the Washington Post. Sounds like a blow-off if we ever heard one. more ›

Producer's PA Ads Make D.C. Real World Season Even More Likely

Oh for the love of Pete. We Love DC caught this post over at Reality Blurred that Bunim-Murray, the producers of the Real World, have started seeking production assistants in the area in earnest (unlike earlier this year, when they were only searching for a production accountant, they're now seeking a slew of people who know the city and can work with camera crews). As they note, unless they're looking to produce a brand new series, it looks like the rumor mill about a Real World season finally happening in D.C. is about to kick into high gear. Between Blonde Charity Mafia, Real Housewives of D.C., and the friggin' Real World (not to mention a new Owen Wilson film that's scheduled to being filming in June, partly in the District), it looks like we won't be able to swing a jumbo slice without hitting a camera crew. more ›

Horror: Here Come the Real Housewives of D.C.

Horror: Here Come the Real Housewives of D.C.

Bravo has gone and done it. Producers are currently casting for the newest franchise in the Real Housewives series, and they're doing it here. From the release: "We're tapping personalities who are among Washington D.C.'s influential players, cultural connoisseurs, fashion sophisticates and philanthropic leaders - the people who rub elbows with the most prominent people in the country and easily move in the city's diverse political and social circles." What I don't get: are there actually any housewives in D.C.? Don't the women here all work? more ›

Look Out, Georgetown

Former Miss D.C. Kate Michael writes on her blog, K Street Kate, that she was told by soon-to-be reality TV star Katherine Kennedy ("herself!") that filming started yesterday on Blonde Charity Mafia. The show, as you'll recall, is styled after The Hills and follows the lives of young, blonde Washington socialites. It will eventually air on the Lifetime network, following Project Runway. more ›

LNS Reality Show Has a Name

LNS Reality Show Has a Name

On the heels of the announcement that Lifetime picked up the Late Night Shots-inspired reality show that's been in development since early this year, we now have the title. According to the Post's Lisa de Moraes, they're going to call it Blonde Charity Mafia. That's the nickname three of the show's main characters have given themselves, due to their reputation for throwing elaborate parties that raise money for charitable causes. more ›
