D.C. Cop Arrested On Burglary Charges

TBD reports this afternoon that a Metropolitan Police Department officer, Jennifer Green, was arrested Saturday on burglary and stolen property charges. Green, a five-year-plus veteran assigned to MPD's Fourth District, was reportedly the target of an Internal Affairs undercover sting in which Green was under the impression she was burglarizing a residence, at which point she was arrested. Green's been placed on administrative leave. more ›

Man Arrested in Connection to Series of Fairfax Burglaries

The Washington Post is reporting that the string of more than 110 burglaries and attempted break-ins may have come to an end. With nuances and shades straight out of The Wire, the Post piece follows the police trail leading to an arrest. Fairfax County police investigators have linked Brad K. Edmonds to the series of burglaries that have plagued the entire county, and perhaps several surrounding areas, for the past three months. The arrest was made after police were tipped off to Edmonds' suspicious behavior, leading investigators to catch him later in Montgomery County breaking into two vehicles. Although, Edmonds is not yet been charged with any of the more than 110 incidents in Fairfax County, he has been charged 13 counts in Montgomery County resulting from the investigation. A search of items in his house and similarities in Edmonds' robbery patterns ultimately led police to believe he is the serial burglar. more ›

Bike Burglars Strike Mayor Fenty's Home

The Washington Examiner reports that three thieves snuck into Mayor Adrian Fenty's Crestwood garage and nabbed two of hizzoner's mountain bikes, right under the noses of the Mayor's security detail. The thieves left their own crappy bicycles and took off with the Mayor's more pimp rides back on June 3. The bikes were each about a year old and worth $300 apiece, according to the report. more ›

Staff at Art Enables, a local non-profit that supports artists with developmental and/or mental disabilities, arrived to find a smashed window and the majority of their office equipment stolen this morning. Thieves appear to have entered through a small window in the studio, taking several computers, a camera, an external hard drive and equipment used to connect to the internet, then left through the front door. more ›

Thanks to the person who sent in this link to the DCist tipline. We're still trying to wrap our heads around this crime story announced by the Georgetown University Department of Public Safety, about a strange home invasion burglary in the 3400 Block of Prospect St. NW:

A homeowner reported to the Metropolitan Police Department at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 21, 2008 that a group of 12-15 white males and females broke into his home. Another resident of the home confronted the individuals and they left the premises. The homeowner discovered that a bronze bull's head sculpture worth $25,000 was missing. MPD reported this incident to DPS on Tuesday, September 23, 2008. more ›

WJLA is all over the news that Montgomery County investigators linked DNA evidence from the crime scene of the homicide of a Bethesda area woman to two other home-invasion burglaries in the neighborhood.
