Cap City Diner Employee Robbed, Shot

According to their Twitter feed, a Capital City Diner employee, Wade, was shot after being robbed 2 blocks away from the restaurant on Bladensburg Road NE last night. The restaurant reports on their Facebook page that the individuals that shot him came into the diner so they have a video of them. The restaurant has turned the video over to MPD. They report the employee that was shot is OK. more ›

To recap: on Monday, Trinidad/H Street/Capitol Hill blog Frozen Tropics was the first to publish images from the security cameras outside the Capital City Diner which depicted Ward 5 Council candidate Kathy Henderson taking down Harry Thomas, Jr. and Kwame Brown campaign signs and replacing them with Adrian Fenty ones. The images, one of which can be seen at right, were supplied by Diner owner Matt Ashburn. more ›

Capital City Diner OK'd to Move Off of Bladensburg Rd. Updated

You may already be following the story of the Capital City Diner, a new restaurant planned by Trinidad resident Matt Ashburn (City Paper wrote about it yesterday). Ashburn and his partner, Patrick Carl, bought a Silk City Diner, one of those original 1940s era sleek modular diner buildings, in upstate New York and planned to install it on the site of one of the former used car lots shut recently shut down by Mayor Fenty. Great idea, right? We were definitely intrigued by the news, and had already set up a time for a photographer to go down there this weekend to check the place out. more ›
