Given his position as chairman of the committee that oversees transportation and the D.C. Taxicab Commission, we knew headline-loving Ward 1 D.C. Council member Jim Graham wouldn't pass up an opportunity to create his own spectacle in the wake of Mayor Adrian Fenty's announcement about the transition to taxi meters. But it seems as though Graham was only able to muster up the resources to put together a 2 p.m. public roundtable at the Wilson......

An unidentified man was shot around 2:40 a.m. last night inside Joe's Restaurant on 9th Street NW, right next to popular local bar and music venue DC9. The man later died at an area hospital. And of course, only hours after that, D.C. Council member Jim Graham is calling for the restaurant's permanent closure. This is becoming a familiar pattern. Good morning, Washington. We wake today to some stunning revelations: It appears the Centers for Disease Control have issued a new report that "confirms" that men are far more likely to have many sexual partners than women are. Once inside, I watched customers stream in for the same grab-and-go dinner: oven-fresh patties......

With a drab week in front of us, a little color is a good thing, no? Behold Flickr user Bsivad's photo from last Saturday's Caribbean Carnival. I believe Bsivad generally shoots on film, so there is no camera info or EXIF data for this shot.......

FRIDAY: >> The First Ladies DJ Collective hits the Black Cat for Girl Friday: the I Love the 90s version. As their site says, join them to "go back in time to the decade that brought us the Real World, Sassy magazine, babydoll dresses, our first war in Iraq, and not one but three Amy Fisher made-for-tv movies." Ah, Sassy magazine. How we miss it. 10 p.m., $5, backstage. >> Monopoli headlines tonight at Club......
