Driving a Metrobus is an incredibly difficult job -- but probably never more so than when a kid unexpectedly leaps out into the street. Sometimes, Metrobus drivers can manage to steer out of the way; sometimes, like in the video above, they can't.

A First: We Have Sympathy for Tow Truck Operators
We know "sympathy" and "tow truck" are rarely used in the same sentence, but bear with us. The AP is reporting that two two truck employees in Frederickburg are being charged with felonies for towing a car with a two-year-old girl in it. But how did a toddler end up alone in a towed vehicle? Apparently her mother double-parked the car, left her daughter in it with the doors unlocked, and ran in to talk to some friends; the tow truck employees say they didn't see the child. Shouldn't the mother be the one facing charges?
Roadside Death of Girl an Accident
You may recall the mysterious death of a 3-year-old girl in Potomac, Md. about a month ago. A mother and two children had been seen walking down the road to a gas station, and then later, turned up at a fire station with the daughter having sustained fatal injuries. The mother had been described as behaving erratically enough that an employee at the gas station where they were seen called police. The Post reports that police have finally determined that the little girl died as the result of an accident. A 16-year-old boy picked the family up to give them a ride back to their vehicle, and accidentally hit her after letting her out of his car. The teen driver didn't know he had hit Jasmine Afolabi and drove off. No charges will be filed.
