Hey, look -- we found Davy DCist! Turns out he was just preparing for the hurricane in his own special way.
Davy DCist's Hurricane Preparations Are In Full Swing
Davy DCist Knows Things No One Else Does
Obviously, the first task that came to this editor's mind after yesterday's earthquake was to determine the whereabouts of our cranky resident meteorologist, Davy DCist. After all, the people were hungry for knowledge, and Davy seemed like the right guy to deliver it.
Davy DCist Does His Best Popsicle Impression
It's hot this week. Really hot. So hot, in fact, that Davy DCist has already melted while looking at the heat index forecast for the rest of the week.
Davy DCist Remembers What You Said, Groundhog
Hey, did you hear? It actually might snow this weekend.
Don't Toy With Davy DCist, Groundhog
And hey, with the maximum high today in some parts of the D.C. region nearing 60 degrees, maybe Punxsutawney Phil is on to something. (We hope so, for his sake.)
Davy DCist: Retrospecticus
As your editor updated the blog during last night's snow/trafficpocalypse, I found the time to piece together this little timeline, marking our cranky meteorologist's evolution from a humble stick figure begging for some pleasant weather to the unapologetic curmudgeon he has become. We love ya, Davy -- don't ever change.
The Incantation Has Been Uttered, There Is No Turning Back
The National Weather Service has announced that the Washington region will be under a Winter Storm Watch beginning tomorrow afternoon. And why is that, Capital Weather Gang? "Due to the energy associated with this storm, it's possible localized heavy banding of snow may develop tomorrow late afternoon and evening," reports Jason Samenow. "It's very difficult to pinpoint where this would happen - but where it does snowfall rates could be very heavy with the possibility of thundersnow."

Don't let the fact that he's only following 26 people fool you -- Davy knows his way around a search box.
Top Chef: Ur Doin' It Wrong (Reunion Edition)
Much like the season itself, the Top Chef reunion episode was uneventful. Oh, sure, we found out who the cast of Top Chef: All Stars would be and who from D.C. would be representing us on the show. But really, the most important piece of information we found out was what really happened to the infamous pea purée. We've got some hard evidence below that answers the biggest question on all of our minds from this season.
Yep, It's Hot as Balls Out There
Apparently the 11-hour-long tennis match at Wimbledon and the ongoing soccer shocks in South Africa have raised global temperatures a few degrees, and we're definitely feeling it here. It's hot out there. Like 100-degrees hot. But Davy DCist, never a friend of D.C. weather, is as cool as they can get.
How the District is Feeling About 6 More Weeks of Winter
I'm not sure if this is technically a new character (Mr. District?) or if Davy DCist has just morphed into something resembling the shape of our fair city, but regardless, I'm now digging through my closet to see if I have my own pitchfork. The latest prediction for this evening is 2-4", and possibly much more starting on Friday.
Snow Update: Somewhere Between a Dusting and an Inch or Two
Sorry to ice any plans you may have had to get a snow day tomorrow, but so far, we're unimpressed with the accumulation predictions we've been reading this afternoon. It's going to be very cold, mind you, but it seems like we're really only looking at a dusting, maybe an inch or two, tops. To be honest, we can't even find Davy DCist to provide our usual emotional barometer for this particular weather pattern.
Get Ready for Winter's First Walloping! (Or Not)
The folks over at the Capital Weather Gang have been all over what looks like a nasty little snowstorm headed our way. What started yesterday as a "maybe" has turned into a "likely," leaving District residents to contend with anywhere from 3 to 12 inches of snow from Friday into Saturday. Of course, they're still hedging their bets a little, pointing out that nothing is definitive and that the storm might dodge the city at best or end up rivaling the blizzard of '03 at worst. (Yes, a few of us at DCist have been around long enough to remember that last time we really got walloped with snow. And much like now, weather forecasters were iffy on how bad things would be until, well, there were 12 inches of snow on the ground and we were left to forage for food.)
D.C. Prepares for First Possible Snowpocalypse of the Season
On the same day we receive the devastating news of Butterstick's departure, we're staring down a Winter Weather Advisory for Saturday, with snow accumulations in the order of 2"-4" possible. Bear in mind that the District will likely see the least amount of actual snow on the ground of any part of the larger metro area, but true to form, the city is making the safe bet on its citizenry freaking right out about it. Here's what we know so far:
Davy DCist Navigates Icy Sidewalks
Over 130 DCist readers say they slipped and fell on a patch of ice today. President Obama thinks this is funny. But it's no laughing matter to Davy DCist.
Winter Weather Advisory, Winter Storm Watch for Tues.-Wed.
The National Weather Service has now issued both a Winter Weather Advisory and a Winter Storm Watch for the D.C. Metro area. The Winter Weather Advisory is effective from 4 a.m. Tuesday morning to 6 p.m. that evening, during which time 2-3" of snow is currently predicted. The Winter Storm Watch goes into effect after 6 p.m. on Tuesday through to Wed. afternoon. That system will bring everyone's favorite wintry mix to the region, which will be some combination of snow, sleet, freezing rain, and rain, but that will all depend on temperatures at the time.
