Street Artist Removed From Workshop After Arrest
Yesterday, we reported on the arrest of Asad ULTRA Walker, a street artist that police allege goes by the moniker "MAR5" and one MPD Sergeant called "a leader and founding member of the 'KGB' graffiti crew that dates back to at least the early 90s." Our report noted that Walker was scheduled to lead a lettering workshop as part of a series of summer workshops hosted by the D.C. Public Library today. That's no longer the case.

D.C. Public Library: Please Don't Watch Porn On Our Computers
On public computers inside Brooklyn's public libraries, you are welcome to watch pornography. No, really. The Village Voice's Runnin' Scared blog confirmed it after hearing about a fight that broke out between a guy who was watching porn and another guy who wanted to use the computer. This, of course, begs the question: are the District's libraries similarly cool with customers watching pornography inside its facilities?
Waxing Presidential At The Library
The D.C. Public Library is always trying to get more people to take advantage of its sparkling new facilities. It's latest promotion involves teaming up with Madame Tussaud's to bring some of the wax museum's figures to draw people into the doors. The contest kicked off earlier this month -- the idea is to get people to come to the museum, answer a few simple questions about what various celebrity wax figures were doing while "hanging out enjoying all the library has to offer," then win prizes and the such.

African-American Civil War Center?
Nikita Stewart of the Washington Post's DC Wire reports on an intriguing proposal before the Council today from Harry Thomas Jr. (D-Ward 5). Thomas has suggested a partnership between the African-American Civil War Museum and the DC Public Library.
