What's with the mass exodus of local news personnel from WUSA Channel 9 to WJLA Channel 7? First, it was weather man Doug Hill who defected a few years back, then news anchor Maureen Bunyan. Now, 35 year WUSA veteran Gordon Peterson is leaving the Channel 9 organization next week to join rival WJLA, Channel 7. Our source at WJLA tells DCist that staffers, anchors and higher ups at the station are "very excited" about Peterson's arrival.
