Several years and several chefs ago, DCist told you about the excellent brunch options at Tallula. Since then, the restaurant has gone through numerous changes, and its parent company, Neighborhood Restaurant Group, has expanded its reach from Virginia into the District with Birch & Barley/ChurchKey. But with all the change, Tallula and its neighbor EatBar continue to be a destination for great food and drink.
Brunch At Tallula, Revisited
Best Dishes of 2008
It's been a delicious year in D.C. The city has seen a number of interesting new restaurants and eatieries, including spots like CommonWealth, Art and Soul, Cork Wine Bar, Adour, and Ray's Hell-Burger. The DCist food staff got together to look back on their favorite dishes, desserts, and drinks of 2008.
Running with Liquid Nitrogen
Last night, DCist was invited to participate in one of EatBar's cocktail classes, taught by Gina Chersevani. The theme for the evening was "Witches’ Brew, Contorted Concoctions," which took imbibers on a tour of some molecular mixology techniques. Some elements were basic, while others required some special equipment and chemicals. The class also included some small nibbles to match the cocktails.
Chef Nathan Anda Leaves Tallula and EatBar
On Friday, news broke that Chef Nathan Anda of Arlington’s Tallula and popular neighboring bar/lounge EatBar will be departing. Anda received much acclaim while at Tallula/EatBar and was nominated for a 2008 RAMMY Award in the category of Rising Culinary Star of the Year. The good news is that Anda will be staying with Neighborhood Restaurant Group with plans to open a butcher shop and a new restaurant. Anda’s departure has paved the way for Andrew Markert, most recently working as chef de cuisine at Vermillion, to step up and take over the role of Executive Chef.
