It was a game of two deflections. Fortunate for Jermaine Jones and the United States; not so much for Jermaine Taylor and Jamaica.

Jim Graham (Ward 1-FMLN)?
Good elected officials know their constituents, and in that Council member Jim Graham (D-Ward 1) has excelled. Graham has represented the District's most diverse ward for the last 10 years, easily offing challengers by remaining accessible to his constituents and making his presence known both in times of celebration and crisis. Heck, it's near impossible to miss a guy with orange glasses and a bow-tie driving a VW Bug from Columbia Heights to Adams Morgan and Mt. Pleasant to Shaw.

Natives of the tiny Central American country -- roughly 105,000 in the Washington area, the second largest concentration nationwide -- represent the single largest immigrant group in the District and its surroundings, and have come to form an undeniable part of the region's social fabric....
Living Wage Rally at Georgetown University
The Georgetown Living Wage Coalition held another rally yesterday, calling on Georgetown University to immediately implement a campus living wage policy. The photo is from a rally in February we mentioned. The rally drew over 50 people, notably several off-duty workers from P&R Enterprises (a subcontractor for custodial services on-campus) and Vice President for Student Affairs Todd Olson. Other speakers included Jos Williams, president of the Metro Washington Council AFL-CIO, and Georgetown theology professor Rev. Raymond Kemp.
