Building Permits Through Your RSS Feed

A friend of DCist and admirer of EveryBlock passes along the news that EveryBlock has added building permits to its D.C. news stream. If you aren't familiar with EveryBlock, it's a service that enables you to never leave the house again for information. No need to walk outside and look at trees when EveryBlock will stream any Flickr images taken in a so-many block radius from your location (defined as you like it) your location. EveryBlock delivers crime reports from a given radius to you free of the invective of your neighborhood listserv! Now you may bone up on neighborhood additions, demolitions, licenses and other permit issues without having to squint at the permits themselves -- all through your RSS reader. more ›

EveryBlock Launches D.C. Version

The hyper-local news and neighborhood information aggregation site EveryBlock launched its D.C. version this week. Enter your address, ZIP, or neighborhood into the search function and turn up everything from blog posts and photos by your neighbors, a map and description of recent nearby crime, real estate listings, relevant local news stories, and public calendar postings. Basically they've taken all the D.C. government's live data feeds and added in RSS for everything else local they could find, and bundled it all together in an attractive package. Take a look around and tell us what you find. more ›
