Go Home Already: Dog Days

>> The actor who plays Jim Halpert on NBC's The Office, John Krasinski, otherwise known as the boyfriend of every female staff writer at DCist, was apparently onstage with Ben Gibbard at the 9:30 Club last night. Krasinski, who met Gibbard on the set of the upcoming film adaptation of David Foster Wallace's Brief Interviews with Hideous Men, reportedly got a bit drunk, came on the stage and provided a little witty musical banter... more ›

Tear It Down?

Tear It Down?

Yesterday, the Post declared support for 1960s-style urbanism dead. No longer, they say, are we to be held hostage by soaring freeways, concrete office blocks, and the utter deadness of the streets and neighborhoods ushered in by the age of the car. Finally, we've learned how vital it is to encourage pedestrian traffic and to take advantage of our waterfront resources; We understand that you cannot design cities around automobile use. The park, which over its 25 years on... more ›

In a not-entirely unsurprising move, six year old Capitol Hill monthly Voice of the Hill announced yesterday that they will be merging with the Current Newspapers Inc., who publish the Georgetown, Northwest, and Dupont Currents. Senior staffs at both papers will be re-arranged slightly, with Voice of the Hill benefiting from an enhanced classified section as well as deeper coverage of local news and events. There are no plans to change the current look or distribution of the Voice, which unlike the Current papers runs monthly, with a four color cover. more ›

More Hot Media on Media Action

"Recently, some newcomers to the local media circuit ... are stealing some of the limelight from Washington's old standards in local news," says an article appearing in this week's "Northwest Passages" section of the Current group of neighborhood D.C. papers. (Which includes the Georgetown Current and the Dupont Current) The newcomers in question are your friendly DCist writers, of course! more ›
