This wouldn't otherwise be news, but we've always been somewhat irked by Lyndon LaRouche and his followers. Even worse is the fact that they've spent the better part of the week camped out by the Foggy Bottom Metro station during the afternoon rush, doing what, well, whatever it is they do. Today they added to their act six or seven minivans and cars, all parked illegally in front of the George Washington University Hospital. They all did keep their blinkers on, though, so we guess it's ok.

DCist has been sent some unsubstantiated celebrity sightings from this weekend. We put our fact checkers hot on the confirmation trail, but really, celebrity sightings are more intriguing gossip than serious journalistic news, so we've decided to go straight to you, our eyes and ears on the ground. So dish already. Here are the details as we know them right now: On Saturday, the D.C. Office of Motion Picture and Television Development hosted an open...

We haven't written much about the development of the site of the old George Washington University Hospital since last January when we reported the University had announced they would conduct not one but two studies about what to do with the land. The situation is this: GWU could make quite a bit developing the site as commercial retail, office, and housing. Neighborhood residents resent the university's relentless growth and see the massive plot of land as potential space for academic buildings and dorms instead.

District residents, political leaders, and police gathered tonight in Montrose Park in Georgetown, not far from where Joseph Pozell, who managed nearby Oak Hill Cemetery by day and worked as a volunteer traffic police officer by night, lived with his family. Pozell, who is 58, was critically injured on Saturday, when a SUV making a left turn from Wisconsin Avenue onto M Street hit him. D.C. Mayor Anthony Williams, police Chief Charles Ramsey, Council-member...

Walking through the campus of George Washington University last fall, we wondered aloud to a friend what the university intended to do with the site of the old George Washington University Hospital, also known as the ginormous empty lot next to the new GW hospital off Washington Circle on Pennsylvania Avenue. The site is seen to the right in a GW photo. At the time our companion mused that it would probably sit empty for...

Baseball Deal Reached: Dust off those would-be Washington Nationals relics: Anthony Williams and Linda Cropp are friends again! The mayor and District Council chairman reached a deal last night that is putting the dream of returning Major League Baseball to the District of Columbia back on track. Cropp, who is pushing for a privately financed stadium, will yield on her demands somewhat.

DCist was watching the Michigan vs. Northwestern football game this afternoon at an L Street bar when ABC interrupted with a news flash that Vice President Cheney, who has survived four heart attacks, was at the George Washington University Hospital undergoing a host of tests due to shortness of breath. When the Wolverines built up a comfortable lead by the fourth quarter (Michigan beat Northwestern, 42-20) we headed over to Washington Circle to see...
