D.C. GOP Calls on Council to Auction Off Sports Tickets

For years, members of the D.C. Council have feuded over access to one of two luxury suites they have access to at the Verizon Center. But for the sake of the city's sanity and its bottom line, the D.C. GOP wants those tickets auctioned off. more ›

Video: GOP Debate Crowd Boos Gay Soldier Over DADT Question

Earlier this week, I put together a short post which outlined a few of the pertinent numbers revolving around the repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." It appears I've got another number to add to that entry. more ›

GOP Dings Councilmembers for Donating to Democratic Groups

The D.C. GOP may not have the best of luck when it comes to getting someone elected to office, but it's certainly on a roll when it comes to calling out elected officials on their shenanigans. more ›

Local GOP Urges Norton to Work With Congress

Local GOP Urges Norton to Work With Congress

Nice message, terrible timing.

Today, the D.C. Republican Party sent a letter to D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton in which it encouraged her "to work with the new Republican Congress, build a working relationship with the new leadership and reach out to freshmen House Republicans toward a goal of obtaining DC Voting Rights." more ›

Massive GOP Spending Reduction Proposal Would Cut D.C., Metro Funding

Massive GOP Spending Reduction Proposal Would Cut D.C., Metro Funding

Looks like the vote of Eleanor Holmes Norton isn't the only thing that House Republicans want to strip away from the District. The Spending Reduction Act of 2011, a bill constructed by the Republican Study Committee led by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and unveiled this morning in Washington, suggests nearly $2.5 trillion in spending reductions over the next ten years, including $330 billion in discretionary spending cuts -- like the elimination of $210 million in general assistance to the District of Columbia and a $150 million subsidy for WMATA. more ›

The D.C. GOP's Minority Scare

The D.C. GOP's Minority Scare

Last night wasn't what you would call a stellar evening for the D.C. Republican Party. Beyond not winning any of the races they claimed to be competitive in, the local branch of the GOP had one of its best showings with a candidate it didn't even support. more ›

Virginia GOP FOIA Request Into Kaine Travel Denied

Obviously, Tim Kaine wasn't wooed by the state GOP's plentiful YouTube skills -- representatives from the office of the Virginia Governor have denied the FOIA request made by the Republicans seeking details of his recent schedule, including travel he takes as head of the Democratic National Committee. According to Kaine's communications director, the "governor's working papers" are not included under the purview of the Freedom of Information Act. Stilted, the Republicans have changed course, now using the strategy of comparing Kaine to disgraced South Carolina governor Mark Sanford -- because obviously, traveling publicly as the head of a major party's committee is on par with fleeing the country for a week to meet your mistress. more ›

Va. GOP and YouTube: Now You're Playing With Power

For all the hubbub about Virginia being one of the keystones of the new Democratic revolution, it's still important to remember that the states still boasts a fairly wide conservative base. A fairly wide conservative base whose leadership has obviously mastered the art of using iMovie to splice together a montage of Tim Kaine speeches, postcards, "I've Been Everywhere," and huge text overlays. Take that, lefties! more ›

BOEE Will Certify Michael A. Brown's Council Victory

For those of you who grew so weary of Michael A. Brown's incessant robocalling and significant paper trail, well, you can't say that the D.C. GOP isn't on your side -- even if its motives are slightly different. more ›

Virginia, It's Time for a New GOP Leader

Virginia, It's Time for a New GOP Leader

After losing its two seats in the U.S. Senate, the governor's office and even a House seat in a conservative-leaning district, you'd think the Virginia GOP would want to watch its words, re-think its electoral strategy and consider new leadership. Apparently, it's not doing any of the above. more ›

Will the Real Virginia Please Stand Up?

While Sen. John McCain's Saturday rally in Woodbridge appeared to go off without a hitch, his campaign continued its now well-worn tradition of saying something of questionable judgment over the weekend. more ›

Virginia GOP Minority Outreach Rally to Feature George Allen

Northern Virginia Republicans are holding a rally on Saturday at Edison High School that's designed to reach out to minority voters in Fairfax County. It's actually an annual event at this point, but obviously this year's rally holds more significance because the Democratic presidential nominee is black, and Virginia has become a swing state this year. more ›

Carol Schwartz Running as a Write-In Candidate

This year's At-large D.C. Council race just won't go quietly into this goodnight, and neither, she announced today, will longtime Republican Council member Carol Schwartz.
