Police Seek Vehicle in Fatal Hit-and-Run Collision

D.C. police are looking for the car and driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision in SE early Saturday morning. According to police, an unidentified man in a wheelchair was struck around 4 a.m. in the 5000 block of Benning Road SE. The man was taken to the hospital where he later died. A police spokesman said the vehicle in question is an older model gray or silver Honda, and could be missing a headlight or leaking fluids. Elderly Couple Injured in Bicyclist Hit and Run

MPD is looking for a bicyclist that hit an elderly couple in an alley off of the 600 block of Massachusetts Avenue NW, near the Washington Convention Center, Friday morning. The man and woman, both in their 70s, were struck by a man riding a BMX-style bike designed for dirt roads and motocross. Both victims were taken to an area hospital; the man is listed in critical condition. The suspect is described as having black hair, and wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt and dark pants. Police are offering an $1,000 reward for information that leads to the biker's arrest. more ›

Jorida Davidson, the 30-year-old Maryland resident who was arrested and charged with voluntary manslaughter after allegedly striking and killing a woman with her SUV on Connecticut Avenue on October 7, reportedly violated the terms of her court-ordered supervision. Dave Jamieson reports that Davidson -- who was ordered under "intense" supervision inside her Chevy Chase home after being arraigned -- took a ninety-minute trip to a local airport (a "family tradition") which carried her beyond established curfew. more ›

Dupont Hit and Run Driver To Be Charged With Voluntary Manslaughter

Jorida Davidson, 30, is scheduled to appear in D.C. Superior Court this afternoon, where she will be charged with voluntary manslaughter in the death of Kiela Ryan, according to TBD's Dave Jamieson. In the District, manslaughter charges carry a maximum sentence of thirty years imprisonment. Jamieson also wrangled up a PDF copy of the police report of the incident, which notes that the driver of the car was positively identified by the witness who recorded her Maryland tag number and that Ryan was pronounced dead at George Washington Hospital at 5:04 a.m., nearly three-and-a-half hours after the incident occurred. more ›

Dupont Circle Hit and Run: Arrest Made on DUI Charges, Victim Identified

A pair of updates on this morning's big story, the death of a woman in Dupont Circle after a driver allegedly hit her with an SUV and drove away. The victim has been identified as Kiela Maria Ryan of Columbia, Maryland. Ryan died around 7 a.m.. this morning. Montgomery County police have made an arrest in the case, though not on any hit and run charges. Jorida Davidson, a 30-year-old from Chevy Chase, has been charged with driving under the influence after authorities found her sitting inside the black Lexus SUV they believe was involved in the incident. TBD's Dave Jamieson reports that when D.C. and Montgomery County police traced the SUV to 4600 North Park Avenue in Chevy Chase and arrived to investigate, they found Davidson sitting behind the wheel. Davidson refused to take a Breathalyzer test and was charged with DUI. The investigation remains open and D.C. police are handling the bulk of the work at this point. more ›

Report: No Charges Pending for Hit-and-Run Driver

After releasing video footage of Saturday's fatal hit-and-run accident near the National Mall, police have reportedly been able to speak with the tractor trailer driver, and no charges are pending. WRC/NBC4's Pat Collins cites unnamed sources who report that the woman, now identified as 51-year-old Debra Schiebel, was both "crossing against the light and wearing headphones" at the time she was struck. The driver reportedly didn't even know he had hit anyone, according to NBC4. more ›

Woman Injured in Hit-and-Run on U Street

A woman was injured in a hit-and-run collision on U Street in the early hours of Sunday morning, officials said Monday. The incident took place at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday near the corner of 14th and U streets NW. D.C. police are looking for the driver of a four-door, silver 2005 Toyota Camry with unknown tags. The woman is said to be in stable condition after sustaining a leg injury. City officials confirmed that she works as an investigator for the District's Alcoholic Beverage Regulation Administration, and was on-duty at the time of the collision. D.C. Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident

The Washington Post reports that 38-year-old Northwest resident Angel Marie Bridges was struck and killed by a driver while crossing 16th Street at Park Road NW early yesterday. This is not an untrafficked road, even at 1:20 a.m., the time that police say the hit-and-run took place. Police later found the vehicle, a 1994 Cadillac DeVille, roughly 4 hours later at 16th Street and L Street NW -- another part of town that is never entirely empty. Investigators are still searching for the driver, so contact police if you have any information about the accident. more ›

Robert Novak Announces He Has a Brain Tumor

Just days after he hit a pedestrian with his car here in D.C., conservative columnist Robert Novak has announced that he has a brain tumor. Novak's paper, the Chicago Sun-Times, reported the news earlier today.

Novak said he was diagnosed on Sunday with a brain tumor and will soon begin treatment at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. He issued the following statement: more ›

Turns out the victim is actually 86 years old, not 66, and he is currently homeless and has been living in a shelter. Clifford Liljenquist's injuries are apparently not severe, but were complicated by his age and history of homelessness. more ›
