Officer in Transgender Shooting Held on Assault Charges

A D.C. Superior Court judge Friday ruled that Kenneth Furr, the veteran D.C. police officer who is facing criminal charges for an August 26 shooting in the 100 block of Pierce Street NW that involved transgender women, should continue to be held in jail until his next court appearance. Furr, who was off-duty and intoxicated, fired a gun into a car carrying five people. WJLA reports that three of the five passengers were injured. more ›

Further Details Emerge in Police Shooting with Transgender Women

Court documents have revealed more details on what happened during an incident Friday morning that led to the arrest of an off-duty D.C. Police officer for assault with a deadly weapon and driving while intoxicated. Police say Officer Kenneth Furr jumped onto the hood of the victims' car and shouted, "I'm gonna kill you," and fired multiple times; five shells were recovered. While in custody, Furr blew a .15 on a breathalyzer test. more ›
