Are you a local band? Did you release a full length album in 2011? Did we forget to review it? If you answered yes to the first two questions, the answer to the third is probably also an affirmative. Oops. Our bad. We're sorry. We'll do better in 2012. Still, since "we'll do better" doesn't sound much like a retroactive "we'll review your album," relax. We'll do that, too. Here are some brief thoughts on the local LPs that we'd meant to analyze earlier.
What We Missed: The Year in Local Record Releases
About Tonight
>> Yesterday we profiled Five Four, the hardest working all girl band in the city, with the cutest shoes, in a Three Stars piece. Tonight you can see those shoes up close and personal at DC9, $8. If that's not the dose of local music you were hoping for tonight, how about Meredith Bragg at the Black Cat, or Gist at Iota?
Out and About: Weekend Picks
FRIDAY: >> Though perhaps not quite as high profile anymore as some other D.C. bands from the mid-1980s, the cryptically-named 9353 always had, and still maintains, a dedicated group of fans. You may never have heard of them, but in addition to playing with some of the biggest local names like Scream, G.I. and Iron Cross, they also shared bills with Public Image Ltd, Sisters of Mercy and the Butthole Surfers back in the day,...
About Tonight
>> Having drawn comparisons to Neutral Milk Hotel since recording their debut album in D.C. last summer, Donny Hue and the Colors, featuring members of the Carlsonics, Nethers, Washington Social Club and Meredith Bragg and the Terminals, will play for free at the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage at 6 p.m. If you can't make it there in time, the performance will also be broadcast live on the web. >> Check out our review of...

Monday >>Provided these thunderstorms pass us by in time, the place to be tonight is Fort Reno. First off, it's free, and we know everyone's wallets are light from all that gas you're having to put in the car just to make a run to the beach. Second, recent Three Stars alums Garland of Hours are taking the stage, along with The Aerialist, and the excellently named Lady in the Radiator. 7:15 p.m., $0....
Fort Reno 2007 Schedule Announced
As we mentioned in the Morning Roundup today, there are plenty of ways to define the start of summer. For music lovers in the D.C. area however, once Fort Reno starts, you know the lazy days of fire fly catching and swimming pool splashing are officially upon us. We told you last week about the opening lineup for this summer's series on June 18, but we're happy to tell you now that the full...

FRIDAY: >> You don't need us to tell you any more about local heavyweights Benjy Ferree, Meredith Bragg and the Terminals, or Greenland. But tonight is Ferree's first time headlining at Black Cat's mainstage, so don't forget to show up and lend your support. 9 p.m., $10. SATURDAY: >> Guitarist Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs will spin a DJ set at the Rock and Roll Hotel. $10 after 10 p.m., free before. >>...
Three Stars: Dead Meadow
The members of Dead Meadow were born in the wrong decade. While the D.C. scene of the ‘80s and ‘90s revolved around harDCore punk, typified by bands like Fugazi and Rites of Spring, the future members of Dead Meadow found themselves drawn to the Zeppelin-style hard rock of the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. Jason Simon, Mark Laughlin, and Steve Kille played separately in bands on the periphery of the D.C. music scene, including...
Laura Burhenn, Meredith Bragg & Dead Meadow
Written by DCist Contributor Abby Lavin Acerbic campaign ads, Redskins season, pumpkin ice cream from Max’s…it’s officially autumn. And what better way to commemorate Canadian Thanksgiving on Monday night than with a sundry cornucopia of local music at the Rock and Roll Hotel? Jazzy songstress Laura Burhenn and indie collective Meredith Bragg and the Terminals are two acts you wouldn’t expect to share a bill with heavy-rock trio Dead Meadow. But together, the three rising...
Unbuckled Preview: Olivia Mancini and the Housemates
Tomorrow night the curtain will rise on our second Unbuckled, a fantastic night of music at DC9 featuring The Hard Tomorrows, Olivia Mancini and the Housemates, and DJ Leafblower. We'll be giving away tons of stuff, tossing back the beer, and generally enjoying some of the best bands that Washington has to offer. Today and tomorrow, we'll be taking a quick look at the acts that will take the stage at our show, and we begin with the very talented Olivia Mancini, who was kind enough to answer our questions about her latest project, the band, and the music we look forward to hearing on Thursday.

Weekly Music Agenda
Here at DCist, we're not trying to break music news. We're not making an effort to tell you what's going to be driving the indie kids crazy this time next year. But when it happens, well, we'd be lying if we said we weren't pleased. Now for the agenda. Monday: You know that if flakes fall, half of us will be doing our damnednest to stay away from roads, where flurries turn the normally competent...
Weekly Music Agenda
Monday: Canada's been busy lately, producing musical exports that bring the indie kids to their knees. Check out the latest offering from our neighbors to the north tonight, as Kiss Me Deadly comes to DC9, with the Spoils of NW and Five Four. $5, 9 p.m.
Three Stars Quarterly Report
It's been a fun three months for us here on the DCist music staff, ever since we debuted the Three Stars local music feature. We've been to lots of shows, heard tons of great music, and discovered just how many great acts there are out there in the Washington area. And we're only just getting started. As we said in the first Three Stars ever, we're going to keep doing this until we run out of bands, albums, DJs, buskers, and possibly jukeboxes.
Three Stars: Meredith Bragg and the Terminals
This is the final installment of this go-round of Three Stars. On Tuesday we featured Alcian Blue, and yesterday we reviewed the album Proof, by Laura Tsaggaris. Today we tackle Meredith Bragg and the Terminals. Three Stars will return in November. Meredith Bragg and the Terminals When the first breaths of autumn blow into the city, darkening its leaves and skies, DCist reaches for a certain subset of our album collection, records reserved for cool,...
Three Stars: Laura Tsaggaris
This week's version of Three Stars continues today with a review of Proof, the debut album of singer-songwriter Laura Tsaggaris. Yesterday we looked at Alcian Blue, and tomorrow Three Stars concludes with a dicussion of Meredith Bragg and the Terminals. Proof, by Laura Tsaggaris It is said that a singer-songwriter with a major label deal is like a mule with a spinning-wheel. Nobody knows how he got it, and damned if he knows how to...

Monday: We love to start our weeks with a bang. Go have dinner in Little Ethiopia, then make your way to DC9 for some good old-fashioned punk with The Vibrators, The Screws, and Corrupted Youth. Bang! $8. Tuesday: Presumably, at some point, Sufjan Stevens is going to finish serenading the Rust Belt and start penning tributes to the Mid-Atlantic. And what we all want to know is, is he going give the District some love?...
