You could write a movie script about the St. Dennis. Everything is there -- a villain, a victim and a happy ending, which finally came to pass yesterday.

Fiesta DC Looking For New Place to Party
A few weeks ago, we reported that the annual Fiesta DC in Mt. Pleasant wasn't a celebration for everyone. But it looks like those residents may not have much to worry about next year.
Temporium to Open in Mt. Pleasant
Early next year D.C. will get its second Temporium, a pop-up arts space, this time in Mt. Pleasant. The D.C. Office of Planning awarded a $15,000 grant as part of its Temporary Urbanism Initiative to "transform vacant storefronts or spaces into a unique temporary retail shop for local entrepreneurs to exhibit and sell their work." The first Temporium on H Street NE was open last summer and welcomed over 1600 visitors.
Mt. Pleasant Library Set to Close for Construction
The long-awaited overhaul of the Mount Pleasant Library is just about to begin. The building as it currently exists will lend its last book at 5:30 p.m. on March 27, and will then be closed for about 17 months.
Click Click: Fiesta DC
Dimmed luster, my ass! Regardless of the brewing Ted Loza/Jim Graham scandal, the folks who participated in this year's Fiesta DC did a great job putting on a colorful, fun, well-attended event that deserves to be judged apart from anything else. Here's just a few of the shots our Flickr contributors grabbed on Sunday in Mt. Pleasant.
Mt. Pleasant Voting Precinct #39 Moved
The D.C. Board of Elections and Ethics sent word around today that voters who vote in Precinct #39, the Ward 1 polling place that has normally been located at the Mt. Pleasant Public Library branch at 3160 16th Street NW, has been moved. Voters in Precinct #39 will now cast their ballots for the Nov. 4 general election down the street, in the auditorium at Bell Multicultural High School, at 3101 16th Street NW. Mt. Pleasant Looks to Try New Parking Approach
Just last week, D.C. Council member Jim Graham (D-Ward 1) introduced legislation that would impose stricter regulations on parking in certain residential neighborhoods, primarily those around active commercial areas such as Adams Morgan. Today we find out that Mt. Pleasant is looking to try out a new parking approach of its own.
Single Beer Ban Continues to Expand
The ban on the sale of single beers keeps marching on, so it seems.
From Adam Express, With Love
Adam Express, a tiny Korean take out joint in Mount Pleasant, is not much to look at. The green brick exterior has traces of graffiti; the rickety bar stools are being held together with chicken wire; and the tired air conditioning unit can barely keep up with the heat emanating from the open kitchen. Write ups from the Washington Post and Washingtonian are proudly displayed on the walls, along with a giant thank you card from a local elementary school, and a primitive drawing of a fish that advertises the day's special as "Fish Soup Cod Fish." Next to the fish sign, a laminated maroon poster proclaims that the Washington City Paper has named Adam Express Best Korean Food in D.C. this year. You would never guess it from looking at the outside.
Police Fear Serial Rapist is On the Loose
According to the Examiner, there's a been a recent surge in the number of rapes and attempted rapes in the District, and now police think several of them may be the work of the same man.
D.C. Scooter Owner Tries Innovative Anti-Theft Device
PassiveAggressiveNotes.com spots this scooter in D.C.'s Mt. Pleasant neighborhood all decked out in angry, belittling and sometimes profane messages to a failed thief. Check out the full post for more photos, sent in by a resident who notes the irony of the neighborhood's name when matched with the sentiments expressed in the scooter notes. I can't help but be reminded looking at these photos why I eventually decided not to buy a scooter last year, even though I sort of really wanted one.
Preview: Mt. Pleasant Fire Benefit
It only took three hours for the five alarm fire in a Mt. Pleasant apartment building to displace roughly 200 tenants. It didn't take much longer for Ryan Wakeman and Chris DeWitt to come up with a way to help. Under the moniker "The Queen of the Water Dolphins", Wakeman and DeWitt organized a benefit concert to raise donations for victims of the fire.
Mt. Pleasant Fire In Photos
There are a number of other dramatic photos in the Flickr pool of last night's five-alarm fire in Mt. Pleasant, so we thought we'd post a few of them here. Below the jump, you'll find photos I took this morning from the scene of the fire, which firefighters were still working to extinguish completely at 10 a.m.
