Eighth grader Aadith Moorthy, 13, of Palm Harbor, Fla. claimed top honors in the 2010 National Geographic Bee here in Washington, D.C. this week. But before Moorthy could take home his $25,000 college scholarship and various other prizes, he had to battle it out with 54 other geography-loving semi-finalists, who were then narrowed down to 10 finalists for the big finale on Wednesday. Yesterday evening here in Washington, 11-year-old Akshay Rajagopal of Nebraska won the 2008 National Geographic Bee without missing a single question -- only the second time that's ever happened in the Bee's 20-year history.
