If you don't believe us, just ask Cathal Armstrong of Restaurant Eve, Eamonn's, and the forthcoming Majestic. Armstrong has been named a contender for two awards in as many days: Best Mid-Atlantic Chef from the James Beard Foundation on Monday and now Chef of the Year by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington....

The Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington recently announced the 23rd Annual RAMMY Award Nominees (.pdf). Four award categories -- Neighborhood Gathering Place of the Year, Hottest Bar Scene of the Year, Power Spot of the Year, and Favorite Restaurant of the Year -- will be selected by the public via ballots in the Post and on the RAMW website May 1. The other categories will be voted on by the judge's panel, which consists of "esteemed Washington food writers and hospitality industry educators."

Local blogger Unsettled has posted a review of Ristorante Tosca. Tosca was the winner of the Washington D.C. New Restaurant of the Year Award in 2002, and has been positivally reviewed by both The Hill (Four Domes!) and the Washington Post.
