Pedicabs Arrive, But What About Pedi-Passengers?
We told you the other day about Mayor Fenty's introduction of pedicabs as an additional mode of transportation for inauguration. And the pedicabs in fact, have arrived. We've seen them on U Street, in Adams Morgan and around Chinatown. What we haven't seen much of so far, however, are pedicabs with passengers in them. When he couldn't find a regular taxi, DCist's Sriram Gopal took one home from a gig last night at Bossa Bistro & Lounge in Adams Morgan. "I believe the last time I rode in one of those was in 1986, in India," Gopal said.
Mayor Fenty Declares Pedicab Official Sweet Ride of Inauguration
Hizzoner stopped in at CycleLife for a special event to inaugurate the pedicab, apparently the official vehicle for the inauguration. The District Of is going to be chock full of them next week. DCist associates say they've sighted pedicabs from time to time over by Fight Club in Shaw and in Southwest, but they're hardly a regular feature on the city's streets in the way that taxis, buses, or bicycles are.
