Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Casey is angry that the Nats would actually want Nats fans in the stands for their three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Shocking: Nats Still Hawking Tickets to Other Fanbases
Soon enough, Nationals fans will be able to complain vociferously about how raucous Yankees fans ruined their day at the ballpark, too!
Clinton Portis Saves Face with Nationals Baseball Cap
Redskins running back Clinton Portis sported a Washington Nationals cap Friday, making some amends for wearing a Philadelphia Phillies cap at a press conference Thursday. The minor faux pas had turned several heads, particularly since the Skins will be playing the Eagles Monday night. Portis' excuse: he grabbed the first red hat on his way out of his house that day. Of course, Portis is not a stranger to stylish dress (see pic right) and we understand that sometimes the perfect accessory can set off an outfit. After all, a man is only as good as the crown on his head. In good faith, the Nationals sent over the cap for him to wear, according to TBD's Mike Jones, who has been following ChooChoo Cap-gate 2010.
The Nationals Start Trading Places
In what's being praised as a completely non-Bowden-esque move, Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo pulled the trigger and dealt All-Star closer Matt Capps to the Minnesota Twins for highly rated catching prospect Wilson Ramos last night.
President Obama to Throw First Pitch at Nats Home Opener
If you managed to score tickets to opening day at Nationals Park, you're in luck: President Barack Obama will throw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Washington Nationals home opener on Monday, April 5.
Last Night's Action: Close Call
Nationals 8, Phillies 7: Everyone knows those moments in life where you find yourself saying "whew, that was close" out loud, directed no one in particular. Well, if they could speak collectively, the Nationals would have certainly had one of those moments on Thursday evening: despite a pair of relievers allowing five runs in the top of the ninth, the Nats still managed to salvage a win in the finale of their last home series of the year against Philadelphia. Until the ninth, though, things looked great for the Nats. Starter Livan Hernandez navigated through a rocky first inning, and didn't allow the potent Phils lineup to cross the plate between the second and the eighth innings. And thanks in part to the impressive debut of shortstop Ian Desmond (2-4, double, home run, 4 RBI), the home team found themselves with a comfortable six-run lead after chasing the normally reliable Joe Blanton from the game during a five-run fifth. Somehow, though, that big lead was reduced to one after Zack Segovia and closer Mike MacDougal just couldn't get any Phillies out; the big blow obviously being Matt Stairs' pinch-hit grand slam, which sent the stadium -- chock full of red Phillies hats -- into a state of nervous excitement. But Nats setup man Ron Villone literally saved the day; truly earning his first save of the season by coaxing big slugger Ryan Howard into a game-ending double play with the tying run on third and one out. Whew, that was close, indeed.
Nats Reschedule April 15 Rainout for May 16
The Nationals have announced a date for their rescheduled game against the Philadelphia Phillies after an April 15 matchup was rained out. The game will now take place at 1:05 p.m. on Saturday, May 16 as part of a doubleheader. A second game will take place that night at 7:05 p.m. Those of you with tickets to the original April 15 game can use your tickets for the May 16 afternoon game, or you can exchange your ticket for any other regular season home game, with the exception of the June series against the Boston Red Sox. The rescheduled game will also mark a celebration of Jackie Robinson Day, when players from both teams will wear Robinson's number, 42. Originally, the teams had planned to celebrate Jackie Robinson Day on April 15.
Nats Game Postponed, No Double Header Tomorrow
With no relief in sight from today's downpour, the Nationals have gone ahead and postponed their second home game of the season tonight against the Philadelphia Phillies. The make-up date has yet to be announced, so there won't be a double header tomorrow. Ticket holders for tonight's game should keep their tickets, which may be used either for the TBA rescheduled game, or in exchange for tickets for the same priced seat at any future 2009 Nationals home game, excluding the June series against the Boston Red Sox. Thursday night's game is still on, set for 7:05 p.m.

Nats Update: Pessimists Be Damned!
73-89. Anyone who would have predicted that record at the start of the season would have been seen as either an optimist, an idiot, or both. After starting the season 9-25, the prognosticators who saw 100 losses seemed generous, but somehow the Nationals managed to play .500 ball (64-64) for the rest of the season, finish out of last place in the NL East for the first time since 2003, and win 2 more games...
Nats Update: Two More 'Til 72
Well, we are reaching the end of the season. The Nationals stand two games away from their stated, and admittedly pathetic, goal of 72 wins -- one better than last year. They have 5 games remaining, two against the Mets and three against the Phillies, all on the road. Given that the Nats are 30-46 on the road this year, these last two wins should be tough. That said, the Mets seem desperate to see the Phillies in the playoffs this year, and the Nats have won three of the last four against Queens' finest, including last night's 13-4 win. Lets face it, anytime your team gives up a home run to Ryan Langerhans you know you are in trouble.
Farewell, RFK Stadium
It's hardly the nicest stadium, but RFK Stadium holds a venerable place in Washington sports history. Open since 1962, when it was called District of Columbia Stadium, the venue has hosted two MLB franchises, the Washington Redskins during their glory years, the most successful MLS club ever, international soccer tournaments, concerts, and on and on. It even hosted Team America! Sunday's final Nats home game, a 5-3 win over the Phillies, isn't the last...
Morning Roundup: Sad and Sadder Edition
Good morning, Washington. Have you recovered from yesterday's local sports emotional rollercoaster yet? The Nationals bid farewell to RFK, and managed to close out their time there with a 5-3 victory over the Phillies. The Redskins, on the other hand, well ... we might still not be ready to talk about that last drive. Yet despite the despondent football fans across the region this morning, we get the sense that no one is sadder than...
Nats Update: Spoiler Alert
These are exciting times in Nationals land. The Nats are currently in control of the NL East! We realize that someone without any imagination, or joy in their life, might say that the team has been eliminated from the postseason, and is currently 15 games under .500. To them we would point out that all of the remaining games for the Nationals are against either the Mets or the Phillies, two teams separated by 1.5...
Nats Update: Exceeding Expectations
Since we last left the Nationals, the team has gone 4-3 and pulled itself out of last place in the NL East. They are one win away from 63, and thus avoiding the humiliation of triple digit loses this year. They are also nine wins from tying last year's total. These are the metrics we have to use to judge a team that wasn't really competing for the post-season anyway (during the pre-season, Vegas...
Nats Update: A Dunn Deal?
UPDATE (4:10pm): Nuthin! Per Barry Svrluga, the Nats passed the trade deadline without making a move, despite a flurry of late rumors. While they might make minor moves in August (like last year with Livan), they decided against moving Rauch or Cordero. Let's hope Chief's feelings aren't hurt and he strikes out Dunn for the save tonight! UPDATE (2:35pm): The Red Sox, rumored to have sought after Cordero since last winter, have reportedly filled their...

Nats Update: First In War, First In Peace...
The talk about the Nationals being the worst team in major league history seems to have been slightly exaggerated. That being said, they've been pretty awful in losing 5 in a row, including being swept by the Cubs this weekend. The Nats are 9-22, 10.5 games out of first place in the National League East and 5.5 behind the fourth place Phillies. And they face the surprising Brewers, who have the best record in baseball,...

Citizens Bank Park at RFK
The Nationals had an exciting game last night, tying the Phillies in the bottom of the ninth and again in the tenth, then falling just short in the 14th. However, you wouldn't know it from the Nats fans. We wrote about fairweather fans before, but this game was just sad - for one, a lot of people hit the exits as the 9th inning ended. The Nats did a nice thing for 15,000 of their closest friends on Sunday afternoon. Phillies Deal Nats a Blow to Momentum
Not for the first time this year (remember that stretch back in April that got them within three of .500?) did the Nats make us think a competitive season was possible, when they ran off a 7-3 homestand to close the NL East gap to single digits.
