Alan Suderman has the juiciest political story of the day with Ward 7 Councilmember Yvette Alexander's decision to fire her communications director Andre Johnson because, according to Alexander, Johnson lied to her about participating in the Marion Barry reality show, "Mayor For Life." more ›

I've Got A Fever, and the Only Prescription is More Comments

Rob Lowe -- apparently dipping into qualifications he gained during his stint playing a fictional staffer in a fictional Presidential administration in the late 90s and early aughts -- is set to produce a "docu-series" titled Potomac Fever, based on "real aspiring ambitious young politicos who are moving up the ranks of power in the Washington." Have at it, folks. more ›

The next season of Top Chef completed its filming in Washington, D.C. on Saturday evening, sources tell DCist. Woman Sues MTV for Depiction on The Real World D.C.

Part of the fun of pretty much any installment of MTV's long-running series The Real World is the interaction between the roommates and the locals of whichever city the producers chose for that season. There's bound to be drinking, making out, fighting and maybe even sex -- all of it caught on camera. Everyone knows this by now. But one local woman who appeared on The Real World D.C. now claims she didn't know that, and is suing MTV and the show's producers for invading her privacy and causing her emotional distress. For her suffering, she's demanding $5 million. more ›

Tom Colicchio Hits Up Ben's Chili Bowl

Tom Colicchio Hits Up Ben's Chili Bowl

The Top Chef host tweeted the photo below less than 30 minutes ago, so he might even still be there if you hurry. "Guess where I am," Colicchio asked his followers. Not exactly a tough one, but we're glad to see the celebrity chef made his way to U Street while he's in town filming the next season of his hit Bravo show. more ›

Can You Identify This Top Chef?

Can You Identify This Top Chef?

The above image was submitted by DCist reader Megan Griffin. We've all heard that the local Top Chef contestants have been doing their shopping at the Silver Spring Whole Foods. During Megan's recent visit to the store, she noted a sign that said "Magical Elves Productions (Top Chef's production company) was taping something called 'The Mission.'" Inside, she spotted a number of lights and TV cameras, and several people in line buying enormous quantities of food. more ›

The Real World D.C.: The Final Morning After

The Real World D.C.: The Final Morning After

We've been through 14 episodes of house drama, personal crisis and growth, multiple dinners at Buca di Beppo, one visit to the ER, and enough Wicked Liquid to scar a lifetime of memories. And it all happened within a four-block radius of the now infamous Dupont Circle townhouse, spare the stray trip to one or two other spots in our fair city. more ›

Marion Barry Reality Show: Now With Trailers!

Local Musician Gets Song on The Real World D.C.

Let's be honest -- there's not much that's authentically "D.C." about The Real World D.C. Sure, the show takes place here, but as our painfully detailed re-caps have shown, the roommates have mostly been tethered to their Dupont Circle home and a rather limited sampling of nearby bars and restaurants. But at least one song played in the background of a recent episode came from a local band. more ›

Top Chef D.C. Confirmed

Top Chef D.C. Confirmed

Looks like The New York Times has more or less confirmed that Top Chef Season 7 will be set here in D.C. Here's what Sam Sifton wrote in a review of host Tom Colicchio's restaurant, Collichio and Sons.

Mr. Colicchio has Craft restaurants in both cities, as well as others in Atlanta, San Francisco, Las Vegas and at Foxwoods in Connecticut. He had been in Washington, too, where he will film the next season of “Top Chef,” the cooking competition on Bravo for which he is chief judge. It draws something on the order of three million viewers a week.

The Real World D.C.: The Morning After, Pts. 10 & 11

The Real World D.C.: The Morning After, Pts. 10 & 11

I know, I know -- we missed last week's episode of The Real World D(upont) C(ircle). But to make it up to fans of the show and the faithful readers of our re-caps (all 17 of you), this week's installment covers not one, but two episodes. The Real World D.C.: The Morning After, Pt. 7

The Real World D.C.: The Morning After, Pt. 7

After being holed up in my basement apartment for five days, even the newest installment of The Real World D(upont) C(ircle) seemed like an exciting break from growing cabin fever. Unfortunately, what promised to be the most riveting inter-personal drama of the series ended up being nothing more than a tease. And yes, my growing fear of Ashley's tantrums made it hard to sleep. If you need to catch up on everything you've missed -- and really, if you're a federal employee, you've got the time -- check out our recaps to date. more ›

Blonde Charity Mafia Trailer on MTV UK

Blonde Charity Mafia Trailer on MTV UK

Looks like the beleaguered Blonde Charity Mafia has found at least some form of new life: an unembeddable trailer for the show popped up on the web site of MTV's UK channel today, presumably as a prelude to the show's premiere (the site mentions Jan. 11 as the first air date). No word on if any plans are in the works to show the reality program in the United States. The CW dropped its plans to air Blonde Charity Mafia last month. more ›

Real World D.C. Premieres Tonight at 10 p.m.

DCist hasn't previewed a screener of tonight's premiere episode of The Real World D.C., which is set to air at 10 p.m. on MTV. But poor Washington Post Style writer Hank Stuever did, and his thoughts can be summed up in the following passage:

Washington is not too boring for "The Real World," but times have changed. Now it turns out to be the other way around: "The Real World" is too boring for Washington. more ›
