You won't be able to escape it, so don't even try. The first of the three Presidental debates airs tonight at 9pm on just about every network. While we bet that NBC is none too pleased about having to shuffle its Thursday night cash cow line up, they too will postpone an another helicoper-falls-out-of-the-sky episode of ER, to bring you Kerry vs. Bush. Or Bush vs. Kerry. Whichever you prefer, really.

Welcome back from Labor Day weekend! Here's some of what you might have missed:

People of D.C.! What were you doing crowding the metro this morning? DCist would like to remind you that NEXT week is the big “get back to work” week. This week is still summer vacation. Did the Sept. 1 date throw you off? You really shouldn’t surprise an unsuspecting person on the metro by filling a train during a week that is traditionally one of the lightest of the summer. Even WMATA thinks it is still summer. They ran a four-car train as the second-string train. To our knowledge, WMATA hasn’t run a rush hour four-car train on the Orange Line in a month or two. DCist kindly asks them to not begin that bad habit again.

And DCist blanks on telling everyone about the start of 2004 World Cup of Hockey last night. We plead Olympic hangover. But hockey fans have nothing to fear with 13 games remaining to satiate your hockey craving.
