We have obtained a transcript of a second robocall received by some Ward 1 residents. We'll spare you the gory details, but again this call contains no identifying information. The content is much more incendiary than the first. The caller accuses Jim Graham of having "a lover on the city's payroll" and tells voters "do not vote for Jim Graham." The second call also includes a reference to the taxicab bribery scandal. The Graham campaign is aware of this newest call and believes the two calls are likely from the same source. more ›

The Associated Press (via the Los Angeles Times) gets on a story near and dear to several DCist staffers hearts: The Federal Trade Commission is apparently close to taking legal action against the truly evil company (or companies?) responsible for the almost weekly robocalls many of us have been receiving that warn us our auto warranties are about to expire. Have you been getting these calls, too? The messages go something like this: "This call is to warn you that your 10-year auto warranty is about to expire! Call us today before you wait too long to fix this potentially dangerous situation - renew your auto warranty with our company today!" more ›
