Person Struck By Metro Train At Rockville

UPDATE: Preliminary reports indicate that the man who was struck intentionally placed himself in front of an incoming train. He was responsive after being removed from under the train and was taken to Suburban Hospital for treatment. A person was apparently struck by a train this afternoon at the Rockville Metro station. WTOP's Adam Tuss reports that the person who was struck has suffered life-threatening injuries. Metro has temporarily closed the station, and trains on the Red Line are currently single-tracking between Shady Grove and Twinbrook due to the incident. Riders should expect delays this afternoon as the investigation proceeds. more ›

2 Pedestrians Killed in Rockville by Possible Drunk Driver

Two 26-year old men were struck and killed by a possible drunk driver in Montgomery County early Sunday morning, according to a police statement. At just past 3 a.m., Adam Hosinski and Rory Weichbrod were walking across Rockville Pike when a driver hit the two while traveling northbound. Police reports say the 25-year old Rockville driver initially left, but parked at the next intersection and walked back to the scene. Police took the man under custody under suspicion of impairment and administered a breathalyzer test, however no charges have been filed as of yet. Hosinski died at the scene while Weichbrod later died at Suburban hospital. more ›

On again, and off again. Reports have been conflicting over the status of water restriction in the City of Rockville after a 24-inch main break. Since Wednesday, a limit has been placed on lawn watering, toilet flushing and car washing -- basically every domestic weekend activity.
