Georgetown's Late Dominance Earns Trip to Atlanta With six minutes remaining in regulation, the Georgetown Hoyas stared at a nine-point deficit. Last week the Wizards signed former GW forward Mike Hall to a 10-day contract, making him the second Colonial from last year's team to make it to the NBA. Colossal Meltdown for GW Any time you blow a 20 point second half lead, it makes for a particularly ugly loss. GW's 74-65 loss to USC in the John Wooden Classic on Saturday qualifies as such. Three days ago George Mason was hoping to get their first ever NCAA Tournament victory. Now, after beating the UNC Tarheels 65-60 on Sunday, they are preparing for the Sweet 16 and a matchup with Wichita State. When George Mason's name was called on Selection Sunday, it turned more than a few heads (including DCist's). They were included over major conference clubs like Cincinnati and Florida St., and conference foe Hofstra, who had just beaten the Patriots in the CAA semis. George Washington won its 15th straight game last night, but the bigger news is that star forward Pops Mensah-Bonsu twisted his knee just before halftime and didn't return. Without a doubt, the highlight of the Maryland Terrapins' up and down (Clemson says "Hi") season last year were the two wins the Terps enjoyed over their hated rivals, the Duke Blue Devils.
