The NFL released its schedule for the 2012 season and on first glance, the Redskins' year looks like it'll be pretty challenging for a team that will be rebuilding around rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III.

The City That Sleeps: D.C. Isn't a 24-Hour Town, and That's Perfectly Fine
Last week two D.C. restaurants announced that they were scrapping late-night hours. That's OK—D.C. isn't a 24-hour type of town, at least not yet.

D.C. Schools Set Snow Make Up Days
D.C. Public Schools released its snow make up calendar late on Friday, and while it could be worse, District students are indeed facing a dreaded lengthened school year after losing four-and-a-half days of instruction due to February's historic snowfall.
Details on Friday's Metro Plan
So, the Federal Government has decided that tomorrow is a work day, albeit with a 2-hour delay. The D.C. Government hasn't made a decision yet, but DCPS administration offices have already decided to open on time tomorrow (classes for students had already been canceled for professional development), which means odds are excellent the District will do the same. Testing Next Bus: Stop Numbers Posted at Wrong Locations
One day into to the official relaunch of WMATA's Next Bus service, and we've heard a lot positive feedback from bus riders about the usefulness of the system. But some problems with the real-time Metrobus arrival tool are already apparent.
Metro's Next Bus Service Returns on Wednesday
Metro is relaunching Next Bus on Wednesday, July 1. The service originally debuted about two years ago, but WMATA wasn't happy with its accuracy, which it said was only about 80 percent, so they shut down the pilot program in October 2007. After spending almost two years making upgrades, Next Bus is back, and we want to hear from bus riders as they try out the improved real-time Metrobus locating system.
Redskins 2009 Schedule Looks Pretty Run of the Mill
On paper, the Redskins’ 2009 schedule looks a lot like their record last season: average. The ‘Skins get three primetime games in 2009, all at home: Week 7 and Week 15 against the Eagles and Giants on Monday Night Football, and Week 16 against Dallas on Sunday Night Football (after playing Philadelphia in Week 15).
Veterans Day Metro Schedule Changes
Veterans Day is Tuesday, which means federal workers have the day off and transit schedules will be different. WMATA says that Metro will be operating on a modified Saturday schedule tomorrow; that means the system will open at the regular 5 a.m. time, but peak travel times will operate on a non-peak basis. In other words, budget a little extra time on your way in to work tomorrow, since there will be fewer trains running than normal. Other changes for Tuesday include that off-peak fares will be in effect all day and parking at all Metro lots will be free. Metrobus and MetroAccess will operate on a normal, non-holiday schedule.
Metro to Stay Open Until 3 a.m. on July 4th After All
WMATA has released a schedule for Independence Day -- and it includes a change from what we first told you last week. Metro will open at 7 a.m. and close at 3 a.m. on Friday, July 4. This schedule is different from what was published on WMATA's holiday schedule on their web site last week (it said it would close at midnight), but that schedule has since been updated.
Metro Holiday Schedules
Be sure to make a note of Metro's holiday schedule, which is available on WMATA's web site.
Some Metrobus Schedules Will Change Dec. 30
Many Washingtonians are already making their way out of town for the holidays, and WMATA wants them to know that by the time they get back, some Metrobus routes and timetables will have changed. Beginning Dec. 30, a number of bus schedules will be adjusted, though mostly in small ways.
