We've been through 14 episodes of house drama, personal crisis and growth, multiple dinners at Buca di Beppo, one visit to the ER, and enough Wicked Liquid to scar a lifetime of memories. And it all happened within a four-block radius of the now infamous Dupont Circle townhouse, spare the stray trip to one or two other spots in our fair city.
The Real World D.C.: The Final Morning After
The Real World D.C.: The Morning After, Pt. 13
Well, we're down to seven roommates and just one episode. It's been a wild ride, and if you need to catch up before it's all over, check out our detailed re-caps to date. Below the jump, we meet Mike's boyfriend, Ty gets a little frisky with an older woman and the roommates are overcome with a sense that maybe they should do something of value before the season's over.
Local Musician Gets Song on The Real World D.C.
Let's be honest -- there's not much that's authentically "D.C." about The Real World D.C. Sure, the show takes place here, but as our painfully detailed re-caps have shown, the roommates have mostly been tethered to their Dupont Circle home and a rather limited sampling of nearby bars and restaurants. But at least one song played in the background of a recent episode came from a local band.
The Real World D.C.: The Morning After, Pt. 12
It's almost over -- only two episodes of The Real World D(upont) C(ircle) left! For all the history and complex character development, check out our archive of detailed re-caps; for this week's excitement, see our patented bullet points below.
The Real World D.C.: The Morning After, Pts. 10 & 11
I know, I know -- we missed last week's episode of The Real World D(upont) C(ircle). But to make it up to fans of the show and the faithful readers of our re-caps (all 17 of you), this week's installment covers not one, but two episodes. Yes, friends, I ran a reality show marathon last night, and as a consequence today I'm dehydrated, cranky and chafing. (If you want an Ironman experience, read all of our past re-caps and then this one. In one sitting. I dare you.)
The Real World D.C.: The Morning After, Pt. 8
There's really only one thing you need to know about this week's installment of The Real World D(upont) C(ircle) -- Wicked Liquid. For everything else, see below; the rest of our coverage can be found here.
The Real World D.C.: The Morning After, Pt. 7
After being holed up in my basement apartment for five days, even the newest installment of The Real World D(upont) C(ircle) seemed like an exciting break from growing cabin fever. Unfortunately, what promised to be the most riveting inter-personal drama of the series ended up being nothing more than a tease. And yes, my growing fear of Ashley's tantrums made it hard to sleep. If you need to catch up on everything you've missed -- and really, if you're a federal employee, you've got the time -- check out our recaps to date.
The Real World D.C.: The Morning After, Pt. 6
We're halfway through The Real World D(upont) C(ircle), and a swift end couldn't seem any sweeter. Then again, the best may be yet to come -- MTV's been dropping rumors that one of the roommates will be making an early departure soon.
The Real World D.C.: The Morning After, Pt. 4
That's four episodes down of The Real World D(upont) C(ircle). Last night's installment of the long-running reality show was chock full of material, so let's get straight to the bullet points, below the jump. (If you need to catch up, here are our recaps of the premiere and episodes two and three.)
The Real World D.C.: The Morning After, Pt. 3
The premiere was OK. The second episode quickly went downhill. And the third installment of The Real World D(upont) C(ircle)? Just be thankful if all you have to know about it is my summary below, delivered once again in bullet points.
The Real World D.C.: The Morning After
More than a few of us dutifully watched the premiere of The Real World D.C. last night, ready to pounce on any slights or rush to correct any common misconceptions made by the show's new cast about our fair city.
Real World D.C. Premieres Tonight at 10 p.m.
DCist hasn't previewed a screener of tonight's premiere episode of The Real World D.C., which is set to air at 10 p.m. on MTV. But poor Washington Post Style writer Hank Stuever did, and his thoughts can be summed up in the following passage:
Washington is not too boring for "The Real World," but times have changed. Now it turns out to be the other way around: "The Real World" is too boring for Washington.more ›
First Trailer for The Real World DC
MTV has posted the first trailer for The Real World DC on its web site. It includes a number of establishing shots of our fair city (including, inexplicably, an intro featuring President Barack Obama exiting Marine One to the tune of the Civil War-era song "When Johnny Comes Marching Home," aka "The Ants Go Marching," ... maybe the producers confused it with "Hail to the Chief"?), and there are a couple of fun scenes showing off the D.C. locale: one of the cast members meeting Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colo.), another playing around in the White House briefing room, that kind of thing. But most of the storylines that are teased are pretty much standard Real World fare: hook-ups, young people unsure of who they are or what they'll do with their lives, and of course, girls running around with their tops off.
The Real World Leaves Town
Tips started rolling in Tuesday afternoon: cast members of The Real World D.C. were spotted variously loading luggage into large SUVs and driving off, or being filmed slowly walking away in dramatic fashion from their Dupont neighborhood house. NBCWashington.com has since filed this interview with the show's executive producer, who confirmed that after four months, the Real Worlders have at last left the District.
Real Worlders Fight for Rights Real Americans Get
When The Real World D.C. cast came to town a few months ago, we heard that they'd be doing what so many folks in the city do -- working for a number of non-profit and advocacy organizations. Noble as that is, we wouldn't have necessarily guessed it likely that they'd be working on any local causes. But it turns out, they did.
Cast Members Arrive at D.C. Real World House
As we noted in Go Home Already, the cast members of the Real World house officially made their way to their new Dupont Circle home today. And I was not the only "reporter" waiting for them on the corner of 20th and S Streets NW. There was videoblogger elizabethany and her friend, along with self-proclaimed soon-to-be blogger Martin, who was keeping us informed of all the latest RWDC news (presumably via tweets from #RealWorldDCNEWZ), and a couple of other random stalkers. They brought me up to speed on what I'd missed a couple of hours earlier, principally that six cast members had arrived, without much fuss at all, despite some reports to the contrary.
Real World Cast Reportedly Arriving
A tipster just texted that the D.C. Real World cast appears to be arriving as we speak -- she reports seeing a blonde girl with a suitcase walking through Dupont Circle, looking clueless and being trailed by a camera crew. Of course, there have been apparent dry-runs previously, but this one could be the real deal, and the RealWorldDCNewz Twitter feed reports similar sightings. Yikes?
MTV Finally Confirms What We All Already Knew
We've already had numerous looks at the Real World D.C. house, but MTV just today got around to actually confirming that an upcoming season of the long running reality show will in fact be based in Washington in the house in Dupont Circle.
Interior D.C. Real World House Photos Reposted
Looks like someone took it upon themselves to re-post all those interior shots of the D.C. Real World house on Picasa. We're not sure who did it and the labels indicating what each room will be used for are gone, but go ahead and check 'em out in case you missed the chance after they were pulled down yesterday.
Photos of the Inside of The Real World D.C. House
Quick, click over to this photo gallery full of interior shots of the D.C. Real World house at 2000 S Street NW/1734 20th Street NW (the corner building does appear to be two addresses fused together) before it gets taken down. An alert tipster found it by merely Google image searching for "2000 S. Street" and sent it in to DCist.
Could The Real World Finally Make it to D.C.?
DCist staff took an in internal poll when someone was shocked to discover The Real World was still filming. What's the last season you watched voluntarily? New Orleans was the final nail in the coffin for some, while others regrettably lasted until Las Vegas. One gave it up after San Francisco. Every show has it's shelf life. Does anyone even care about The Real World anymore?
Morning Roundup: Fenty Wins Edition
What a night, eh Washington? If you're like us, you were up late listening to Kojo and Jonetta break down the election results as they came in on WAMU. Our favorite moment of the evening came just before 10 p.m., when Mayor Williams told co-host Jonetta Rose Barras she was crazy to suggest that anyone believed he had waited too long to decide if he would seek a third term. For the record Jonetta —...
"Keys" Me Goodbye
Once again, DCist Three Stars alum Hello Tokyo has invaded network television. Back in February, their single “Radio” was chosen by Animal Planet as the theme song to a mini series on horseback riding called “Horse Power,” with several of their other songs used throughout the rest of the show. Now MTV has noticed this local talent, featuring their song “Kiss Me Goodbye” on the premiere episode of The Real World: Key West. Fellow District rockers, Army of Me, were also featured (with their track “Put Me in a Photograph"). Their sound truly captured the heartbreak and emotion as Svetlana parted ways with her long time boyfriend to go live with 6 strangers and see what happens when people stop being polite and start getting real. A second Hello Tokyo song, "Buy Your Time," can be heard in the 4th, most recent episode.
Sometimes We Just Heart Fluff
DCist has been sent some unsubstantiated celebrity sightings from this weekend. We put our fact checkers hot on the confirmation trail, but really, celebrity sightings are more intriguing gossip than serious journalistic news, so we've decided to go straight to you, our eyes and ears on the ground. So dish already. Here are the details as we know them right now: On Saturday, the D.C. Office of Motion Picture and Television Development hosted an open...
Ask DCist: Filming in the District
A few weeks ago, I was walking by the Bank of America building across from the Treasury Department and noticed a film crew set up. Searching the Internet didn't reveal any info about who was there, though I did find a link at the DC film site telling me about three more TV series that are going to be doing occasional filming in the District.
