First Look: Touchdown
Ample seating. Greasy, fried, no-good-for-you fare. Lots of draft beer. Plenty of high-definition televisions with all sorts of programming options. The components of a successful sports bar are simple to identify -- but the execution is often difficult. Such was the case at Momo's, the sports bar at 1334 U Street which closed a few months ago. Often, the bar would run out of draft beer on Sundays during football season -- a cardinal sin for a bar that caters to those in search of a sporting fix. But the space has been revamped with new ownership, and the guys behind Touchdown -- which opens today -- are not only promising to make good on Momo's failings, but add a dash of class while they're at it.
