Local blog Penn Quarter Living has a complete roundup of media about yesterday's city action against Club Bounce, which operated at 915 F Street NW. Formerly the space of the notorious Platinum nightclub, District officials claimed that a shooting which followed a fight outside the building was the impetus for the shuttering. According to the Post's writeup, eighty youths have been picked up for curfew violations near the club since mid-September. Club Bounce, which is an under-18 dance party that "bounces" between different locations (clever, eh?) and gathers upwards of 500 youths every Saturday night, will still continue to operate at its other locations around town.

One good thing to come out of this year's controversial summer youth jobs program is the video above, an ad starring some of the program's participating students (h/t WTOP). The Neighbors of Seaton Place produced the ad with the teens, which calls on community members to put an end to the violence that is all too common on D.C. streets.

Anacostia, Rhode Island Avenue, and Congress Heights all make the list of 10 Metro stations that will be receiving new surveillance cameras over the next six months, Metro Transit Police said yesterday. The Post reports today that the District is kicking in $225,000 towards the effort. Transit Police have recommended that Maryland and Virgina install additional cameras at stops in their jurisdictions as well, especially at stops at the ends of lines.

W_Capitals_primary_silver.gifWhenever the dirtiest plays in hockey history are discussed, New York Islanders fans malign Dale Hunter's hit on Pierre Turgeon. True, Hunter hit Turgeon from behind, without warning, as Turgeon raised his arms to celebrate a decisive playoff goal. True, Hunter separated Turgeon's shoulder, earning a (then record setting) 21-game suspension. Regardless, Caps fans will no longer have to listen quietly as Long Island residents insult our good name.
