The District's ability to manage its fleet has taken quite a beating in recent months. But with gas officially breaking the five dollar-ceiling at the notoriously expensive Watergate Exxon station and rental car companies charging customers north of nine bucks a gallon for unleaded, it's refreshing to see there's at least one agency doing something good when it comes to its cars.

The sixth winner of Bravo's popular reality series Top Chef will be crowned later tonight, and like last year, when Silver Spring-based caterer Carla Hall climbed her way into the final three, we've got a chef-testant with local ties representing in the final three: Volt's Bryan Voltaggio.
Fun and Fare for a Cause at Capital Food Fight
D.C. restaurateurs and food fanatics alike turned out in droves for this year's sold out Capital Food Fight to benefit D.C. Central Kitchen–although it's unclear whether they were there for the food, the fierce competition or to see how long it would take José Andrés to lose his voice. (For the record: it started to give out sometime after Round 2.) Chef Michael Mina, creator of Bourbon Steak and the only out-of-town chef participating in the competition, took the crown from reigning champ Barton Seaver during a final round that featured coquitos (baby coconuts) as the secret ingredient.
