Everyone loves a parade, and on Saturday, the Washington Project for the Arts held their first WPArade, where artists and arts organizations showcased moving art, floats, portable sculpture and street performance along Half Street SE.

All you need for a parade is a saxophone, a snare drum, searing heat, a couple a kiddie bombs, and the Floating Lab Collective. That is, if your parade is a WParade. Artists and arts organizations John James Anderson, Batala Washington, Adrienne Mills, and the Glade Dance Collective -- among others -- introduced a new art parade along the Capitol Riverfront in Southeast.
Washington Project for the Arts: Experimental Media Series
Opening Thursday, the Washington Project for the Arts will present their annual Experimental Media Series, a juried show that highlights a wide selection of video and sound art.

Updated: New Art Space Proposed for Cook Elementary
At the end of the 2007-2008 school year, 21 schools in the DCPS closed for good. During the summer, the city put up a request for proposals for ways to reuse the buildings, and via the Bloomingdale blog, it looks like some of our local arts supporters grabbed on to the opportunity.
