Click Click: New Pornographers @ 9:30 Club
You would be hard pressed to find a power-pop band as well received and respected as The New Pornographers. The indie rock “super-group” graced the 9:30 Club yesterday on the first night of their sold out 2-day run in D.C. They arrived in full force with everyone’s favorite indie personalities: including Carl Newman (a.k.a. A.C. Newman), Neko Case, Dan Bejar (Destroyer), and Kathryn Calder (Immaculate Machine). Metric plucked the opening act, Smile Smile, straight out of Dallas, Texas to help support the U.S. leg of their tour. Smile Smile are a piano/acoustic folk indie-pop group who have a simply charming approach to their songwriting. The duo, consisting…

Click Click: The Kills @ 9:30 Club
The 9:30 Club saw its fair share of rock ‘n’ roll last night, from bare bones rock to lush walls of sound. Magics Wands, The Horrors, and headliners, The Kills well um… killed it. Magic Wands opened the evening with their own brand of dreamy, boy meets girl meets drum machine pop tunes. Persevering through some sound issues, the duo left a strong impression on the youthful crowd with tunes like “Black Magic” and “Kiss…
