In 2019 there were 5,593 homeless students in the District, up from about 3,000 students five years earlier.

National Collegiate Prep has launched a new campaign to fight its closure, and to fight the Public Charter School Board, which organizers say is unfairly targeting black-led charter schools in the District.

It’ll cost an estimated $500 million over the next decade.
