Hamas’ attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, killed more than a thousand people and triggered the latest deadly escalation in a conflict that spans decades. Since then, Israeli airstrikes have killed thousands more in Gaza, and the death toll continues to mount with no end in sight. The D.C. area has not been spared the profound ripple effects of this conflict. We are sensitive to the heartbreak and pain in our community.

The WAMU/DCist newsroom is committed to fulfilling our mission to connect Washingtonians with each other and the world. We do so by producing local stories that reflect the highest ethical standards. Individual stories may focus on different points of view or different aspects of the conflict and its history, and opposing viewpoints will not always be heard within the same story. So, we would like to encourage our listeners and readers to assess our coverage as a whole. Full coverage can be found below and at npr.org and wamu.org
