President Bush and Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry faceoff one last time in tonight’s presidential debate. With 20 days left ’til the election, and the race in a virtual dead heat, DCist expects a gloves off, no holds barred performance from both men tonight at 9 p.m. from Tempe, Ariz.
The third and final debate of the campaign will focus on domestic policy and social issues such as health care, job growth (or the lack of), and taxes. Riveting stuff, we know. The 90-minute question and answer session will be moderated by Bob Schieffer of CBS News who should have his hands full keeping the two candidates in line.
Veep hopeful Sen. John Edwards gets the award for best line about tonight’s debate, as quoted in yesterday’s Post:”‘I guarantee you tomorrow in this debate, he’s [President Bush] gonna try to put lipstick on this pig. But no matter how much lipstick you put on a pig, it’s still a pig, isn’t it?'”
While we will miss the excitement of a presidential debate, it’s a good thing this is the last one. DCist was seriously running out of sports metaphors to use.
*We lifted the headline from CBS News. It’s better then anything we could come up with.
