After seeing some mysterious grey boxes near a couple metro stations, DCist did a little investigating and found they were bike lockers. We thought it odd that most seem devoid any identifying markings except for a small logo of the manufacturer on some – cycle-safe. The photos show the lockers near the Dupont Circle and Eastern Market Stations.

It turns out the lockers are part of a large system of racks and lockers available for bicylists at nearly all Metro stations. Having never seen the bicyle lockers in use, we wonder if some explanatory posters on the nondescript boxes would help advertise the service.

The lockers are available for rent for $70 per year plus a $10 key deposit – to reserve a locker call 202-962-1116.
