WMATA Chief Executive Richard White said that criticism that has been dished out about the failings of the metrorail system has been warranted and that the agency is reviewing past decisions that, as the Post’s lede said “‘don’t make much sense’ or have ‘misfired badly.'”
Apparently there is another scandal under investigation. The contractor that oversees paratrainsit operations may have warped ridership numbers to “cash in on more than $3 million in incentives.”
Freight Train Derails in NE. A derailed freight train on the CSX tracks near Rhode Island Avenue should not cause problems for MARC commuter trains that share the same tracks. The Post reports that eight train cars left the tracks, probably caused by a faulty wheel.
Fortunately, the train was carrying only gravel.
