>> The National Gallery has just opened the first major U.S. exhibition of art by Gerard ter Borch, one of the finest — but unrecognized — Dutch painters from the 17th century. (ter Borch’s “The Suitor’s Visit” is at right.) Also new at the NGA is “Six Centuries of Prints and Drawings: Recent Acquisitions,” featuring works on paper that the museum has acquired within the last five years. Highlights include etchings by Rembrandt and drawings by Georgia O’Keeffe.
>> “Anita Walsh: Floor Plan” opens at Flashpoint Gallery on Nov. 18. In the exhibition Walsh explores the ritual of cleaning with five floor pieces whose shape mimics a different room in the home. Each piece is shaped and decorated to define the function of the room.
>> This week is your last chance to see “The Indigenous Presence in
Bolivian Art” at the Inter-American Development Bank Cultural Center. The exhibition includes an array of textiles, baskets, silver and other utilitarian objects. Admission is free and the gallery is open 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
