Gawker media is doing its best to stir up some inside the Beltway like controversy, recently reporting on the exploits of D.C.’s version of the Hilton sisters, the Bush twins. Hey, they’re all we’ve got and we’ll follow them wherever they may be. (Oh yeah, Paris was in Georgetown this past weekend.)

Last Friday, Gawker posted a brief but interesting e-mail about Jenna and Barbara’s being denied a table at Freemans, a hot spot on Manhattan’s Lower East Side.

Freemans, tuesday night the 16th of nov. the bush twins , along with 2 massive secret service men, tried to have dinner. they were told by the hostess’d that they were full and would be for the next 4 years. upon hearing, the entire restaurant cheered and did a round of shots… it was amazing!!![Ed: We’re hearing that this is actually true.]

Ouch. Perhaps we aren’t the only ones still smarting from Nov. 2? Gawker independently confirmed and published the report. Freeman’s restaurant got wind of the item and took a page from the Bush administration’s play book and officially denied that the incident had occurred and posted a statement on their website today.

Even being the president’s daughters doesn’t make you immune to the bitchy behavior of a New York matier’d.

Well, if the Bush girls can’t get a table in Manhattan, they might just want to return to their old stomping grounds in D.C., hosts and hostesses alike would be fawning over the political princesses. DCist hears that Smith Point has a table all ready for their return. We were interested to read that the twins have been spotted at Bourbon as well. Who knew little ‘ole Glover Park was going all Texas on us when our backs were turned?
