When last we spoke of the Redskins, it was intimated that this column may show up today, boldly predicting, perhaps even guaranteeing a Redskins win this Sunday. Now, why would we do that? Are we crazy? And isn’t using the term “we” getting awfully presumptuous? It’s not like DCist’s editors have signed off on some kind of crazy prediction plan. They want to “grow a credible brand” and “vertically integrate” and otherwise please our Gothamist overlords. So now isn’t the time to start getting nutty up in here.
Because of this, as well as a host of touchy liability issues, DCist will not guarantee the outcome of this game. We hardly think it’s prudent for anyone in our readership to wager hard currency of the realm on this contest—the Philadelphia Eagles have proven themselves already to be a most difficult team to beat. However, why not take a leap of faith?
Consider: All year, we’ve heard about how awful the Redskins offense is. Yet last week, the Green Bay Packers went into Philadelphia with a high-octane, Brett Favre-led offense and got obliterated by the Eagles. Just wiped off the face of the earth. How can you look at that box score and not thank your lucky Gibbs that we have an offense that can stop the Eagles? You surely wouldn’t trade a good defense for a good offense now, would you?
