Welcome back loyal “West Wing” viewers. The first new episode since the holiday break and not a whole heck of a lot happens. This week, the staff tries to pass a federal budget, avoid the messy moral issue of gay marriage and Josh quits!

We open with a tight close up of Congressman Santos and his wife (Teri Polo) in bed (fully clothed, people) talking about his not running for re-election. The camera pulls back to reveal that their two kids are asleep in bed with them, and it’s cute as hell. Santos revels that Josh stopped by to ask him to run for president but that he declined the offer. This scene is great because you can tell that while he’s saying “No, I’m not going to run” he’s really asking his wife, “Want to be the next first lady?”
