A show of 10 artists from last fall’s Artomatic show has opened at the Anne C. Fisher Gallery in Georgetown. The brainchild of Fisher and F. Lennox Campello of the Fraser Gallery (and prolific author of popular blog D.C. Art News) “10 Most Wanted” showcases a few works from some of the two gallery owners favorite Artomatic artists.
The works on display range from abstract paintings and mixed media panels to sculpture, photography, and interactive art. The artists participating in the show are John M. Adams, Jean S. Beebe, Andrea Cybyk, Louise Kennelly, Aaron Quinn Brophy, Lisa Schumaier, Luis Scotti, photographer Colin Winterbottom, interactive artist Philip Kohn, and conceptual artist Frank Warren. Warren’s work is particularly unconventional – his “share a secret” project encouraged the public to send him postcards with anonymous messages to display at the show. Some of the postcards he received are on display at the gallery.
The exhibition opened last Saturday, and continues until Jan. 29. The Canal Square galleries, which includes the Fisher Gallery, will be open for their monthly public reception on Friday Jan. 21 from 6 to 8 p.m., but if you can’t wait until then the gallery is open for public viewing on Tuesday afternoons from noon until 3 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays from noon until 6 p.m. The Canal Square galleries are located at 1054 31st St. NW, and are accessible from either M or 31st streets in Georgetown.
