Law students at American University witnessed something somewhat odd yesterday: Two Supreme Court justices, Antonin Scalia (at right) and Stephen Breyer (below), going at each other, trying to one-up one another in front of a live audience in a legal performance the Post describes as “electrifying.” It was the first time in recent memory when two justices debated each other outside
the sacred judicial confines of the Supreme Court. (They focused much of their time debating the validity of using foreign court rulings to influence American jurisprudence. Quite sexy, isn’t it?)
We know there are some lawyers and law students out there who tuned to C-SPAN to see whether Scalia’s unexpectedly candid writing style translated to his stage performance.
