If Inaugural security barriers got in the way of picking up last week’s City Paper, be sure to find a copy and read Sarah Godfrey’s cover story, “Grass ‘N’ Go,” an interesting look at the economics of District gas stations and the need to sell drug paraphernalia and related goods. From the City Paper’s cover story (which will probably go into the CP’s paid archives later in the week):
If you’re looking to get high and need some props to help you get the job done, D.C. filleries are the easiest option: you don’t even have to hunt for a parking space.
As the article notes, selling such paraphernalia is illegal in D.C., but getting something classified as paraphernalia is a different story.
And while you’re looking at the City Paper, be sure to take look at its latest Hall Monitor report, where Incident No. 727 at the Hamilton Center Elementary School details how a teacher instructed his students to “urinate in the classroom trashcan” whenever they asked to use the restroom. It’s almost as eye-opening as the most-recent Animal Watch rundown in the Post that involved a new mother concerned that her cat was going to “suck the baby’s breath.” We’re still trying to figure that one out.
