I have an interview this week at a small D.C. consulting firm. I am having trouble deciding what to wear because the company is small and fairly laid back. Any tips?

D.C. is a fairly conservative town when it comes to work clothing, so Ask DCist suggests that you stick with the standard interview suit. We actually have pondered this topic at length in the past, most particularly when interviewing people wearing obviously inappropriate interview attire.

Here are some “rule of thumb” tips for pretty much any interview in the D.C. area. We always thought they were obvious, but experience tells us otherwise.
